What does the program mean for you?

How It Works

3

For Schools & Organizations

Schools and community partners play a powerful role in opening doors for Idaho students. They can help families understand available scholarships and connect students with eligible educational services.

These organizations can help build statewide access by:

1. Learning program requirements and staying up to date on current guidance.
2. Discussing participation with local boards, foundations, and community partners.
3. Identifying student needs and the qualified services that can support them.

Scholarships are awarded to students. Schools and partner organizations may help students access services, but eligibility and awards are administered by approved Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGOs).

For Students & Families

Scholarships open doors for Idaho students—giving them access to the K–12 educational resources they need to thrive.

Eligible students in traditional public, public charter, private, and other qualifying educational settings can use scholarships for a wide range of approved K–12 expenses, including:

• Academic tutoring
• Specialized services
• Books and learning materials
• Technology and internet access
• Supplemental transportation
• Extended learning opportunities

Students apply through an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Eligibility, application timelines, award amounts, and documentation requirements will follow current federal and Idaho guidance.

Your generosity builds Idaho’s future—and unlocks a powerful tax benefit today.

Take action for our youth: eligible taxpayers can secure a federal income tax credit of up to $1,700 by making a qualifying cash donation to an approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO).

1. SELECT: Choose an approved SGO to receive your gift.

2. INVEST: Make your qualifying cash contribution starting January 1, 2027, to fuel student success.

3. CLAIM: Save your records and reduce your tax bill by claiming your credit when you file your return.

Maximize your impact. Unlike a deduction, this credit delivers a dollar-for-dollar reduction of your federal tax liability. While you can’t designate a specific student, your gift opens doors for Idaho students who need it most.
